Hiplife musician, Emmanuel Nana Appiah Boateng known in showbiz as Kontihene has described the current trends in music as polluted with songs that cannot be sold outside Ghana.

“Let’s stop playing polluted music, let’s play content filled song,” he urged.

He went on to say that, “send me to Ivory Coast today to sell Rex Omar’s song ‘Abiba’ and I will make money but the songs on air now cannot be sold in the foreign market.”

According to him, hiplife artistes Sarkodie, Kwaw Kesse, Samini, Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy’s songs are some of the songs he (Kontihene) cannot sell in the international market because they lack content that targets those markets.

The “Migizigi” hit maker was speaking in an interview with Black I on Daybreak Hitz (Showbiz Review) on Hitz FM.

When asked why he thinks that the current trends of musicians make polluted song, Kontihene said because they are in a haste to make money that is why many fall after a short while. “I want us to stand as soldiers and release powerful songs.”

“You can relate to Okomfo Kwade’s music because there are strong story backing them,” he added.

The ‘Juju’ singer, who recently made claims of being the only musician who makes music with good content in Ghana now, dared anyone who thinks otherwise to come and face him.

He cited highlife musicians Rex Omar, Kojo Antwi, Appiah Fordjio as examples of old folks whose songs sound fresh to the ear even after decades.

He added that, the lyrical content of his songs in the past are still relevant today and dared anyone who thinks otherwise to challenge his claims.
