At least twenty (20) revelers have died at the Kintampo Waterfall in Kintampo in the Brong Ahafo region after a huge tree on top of the waterfall fell on them.
This also follows a heavy storm that rocked the town on Sunday.
An eye witness told GlammyNews.com, “most of the deceased are students of the Wenchi Methodist Senior High School who were on an excursion and others were tourists to the famous waterfall during the time of the unfortunate incident.”
Several others who got injured were also rushed to the Kintampo Municipal Hospital in the Kintampo North District for medical attention, the Kintampo Police have also confirmed.
Officials of the Ghana National Fire Service, Ghana Police Service and other disaster management officials were at the rescue scene.
Rescue operations are expected to end on Monday.
