Ghanaian reggae superstar Rocky Dawuni has shared his thoughts about the importance of music in the life of every living soul.

The ‘Shine A Light’ singer who was speaking, among other issues at the Social Good Summit 2017 in New York, USA on Sunday noted, the performance art genre “is the highest form of expression.”

The session which was under the topic “Voices of Change: Women, Health and Environment” was moderated by Mashable‘s Senior Features Writer Rebecca Ruiz, and also had Pati Ruiz Corzo, the Director of the Sierra Gorda Ecological Group as one of the resource persons.

“Music is the highest form of expression. Music doesn’t judge — it creates a space to empower everybody. It creates a space to bring people together to create something larger than themselves,” the Alliance for Clean Cookstoves Ambassador noted on using music to connect with communities.

The songwriter and activist also noted that “it is important to be culturally sensitive when trying to implement change internationally.”

The GRAMMY Awards 2017 nominee also gave an acoustic performance to audience at the summit — he did ‘Shine A Light’ off his ‘Branches of the Same Tree’ album.
