The maiden edition of the annual “Dance Afrobeats Battle” (DAB) – a reality dance competition which is aimed at developing the dance industry will host an audition in Accra, Ghana as part of the process of selecting dancers to represent the country
for the Pan-African and world event later in the year.
The international dance competition will see talented dancers show their prowess in a variety of African dance styles including but not limited to traditional and contemporary (Azonto, Amanda, Vera, Shooman, Golow, G)g), Chiley Chiley, Dabudabu, Shooley) as they dance to Afro Beats rhythms.
The ultimate winner for the Ghana competition will get the opportunity to represent the country at the pan-African and world events, receive prize package, training opportunities and additional material prizes. The above mentioned packages will also be made available to the winner at the Pan-African and world event but up for grabs at the worlds is a lip-smacking amount of £3,000.
According to the CEO of Flash Mob Ghana, Mr. Moses Frimpong popularly known as Usher, the competition is structured into three phases including an audition and grand-finals/live performance shows.
“The audition is open to dancers of various backgrounds and experience levels and will be overseen by a panel of judges who are experts in dance,” he acknowledged.
The Ghana audition will be held at the Park View Café opposite the National Theatre, Accra on Saturday, February 8, 2014 at 10.00am before the grand-finale later in March.
