Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) of Ghana is the governmental body responsible for licensing and evaluating drivers and cars in Ghana.
Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) of Ghana was established in the year 1999 with its headquarters in Greater Accra and branches in all regions in Ghana.
The institution was first called Vehicle Examination & Licensing Division (VELD) and it’s was backed by the laws of Ghana under act 569.
The 569 act gave the authority the right to register, inspect and license cars in the country and also the safety of roads in Ghana.
The authority works under the ministry of transports to ensure road and human safety.
From the act, persons of the age 18 years and above are allowed to have a driving license before using any car in Ghana.
These people are also required to be able to read and write so it requires English in filling the forms.
However, you will be required to take a test and when you pass you will be given your license and this is to be renewed every 2 years.
The cost involved in renewing is 45ghc for one but you will pay 105ghc for 2 DVLA driver’s licenses.
In case of any problem and you happen to be in Accra you can visit their head office for assistance.
